Logs or tree limb sections to be debarked and a plurality of smaller, higher density impact objects are disposed in a series of interfaced, open-ended cylindrical sections alternate, ones of which have different diameters and are rotated in opposite directions about generally horizontal axes. The cylindrical sections are generally tangent about a point above their rotational axes and their upper ends are inclined slightly to promote migration of the impact objects and wood sections in series through the chambers and for discharging the same from the final chamber.
