A stringer for a sliding clasp fastener and a sliding clasp fastener assembly which consists of a pair of mutually cooperating stringers and a sliding clasp where the stringer comprises a tape of asynthetics plastics sheet or foil to which the fastener elements are attached and in which the tape includes a sewing-in zone. The fastener elements are shaped to receive and guide a sliding clasp for sliding movement for opening and closing the fastener and a clasp path is provided on the tape for sliding cooperation of the sliding clasp therewith for additional guiding and support of the sliding clasp in its movement.
