A stringer for a slide fastener has a continuous filamentary coupling element attached to an edge of a tape with a pair of elongated members, such as textile cords spaced apart in a plane parallel the tape and extending throughout the length of the coupling element between and transverse each pair of leg portions of each section of the coupling element. The pair of elongated members are secured to one or both of the leg portions of each section so as to form a mesh providing dimensional stability to the coupling element. - 1 -
