Abstract of the Disclosure, A porous carbon sheet having improved physical properties is obtained by dispersing oxidized pitch fibers in a liquid comprising at least one organic compound having at least one hydroxyl group and a boiling point of not less than 150°C, subsequently forming the resultant dispersion in the form of a sheet, heating the sheet thus obtained at temperatures in the range of from 50 to 300°C and thereafter carbonizing the sheet in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. The oxidized pitch fibers have a diameter in the range of 6 to 100 µ and a fiber length/fiber diameter ratio of not less than 2, and contain 45 - 90% by weight of nitrobenzene insolubles and 55 - 90% by weight of …

Why it's free to use
- Granted February 6, 1979. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended February 6, 1996.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
