A record player comprises a motor-driven turntable having an associated general pick-up arm assembly which includes a main cam serving inter alia for controlling movement of the pick-up arm during operation of the player. The main cam is damped as by means of a liquid damping arrangement embodying part of the cam or by a frictional damping system in order to provide slow lowering of the pick-up arm on to a record surface without the necessity for introducing a separate damping device between the cam and the pick-up arm as has heretofore been the practice.

Why it's free to use
- Granted January 23, 1979. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 23, 1996.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
