This invention relates to a copying machine such as an electrostatic or xerographic copier or duplicator having a transparent window above which an original is located for copying. It has previously been proposed to provide a screening or masking device between this original and the window to limit the portions of the original which arc copied. The present invention provides a second screening or masking device mounted for movement into and out of a copying position disposed between the light source and the original such that when the second masking device is in the copying position it is copied from or obscures portions of the original.
