Racemic anthracyclinones of general formula II II, when condensed with 2,3,6-trideoxy-3-trifluoroacetamido-4-0trifluoroacetyl-.alpha.-L-lyxo-pyranosyl chloride in the presence of silver trifluoromethane sulphonate yield an easily separable mixture of equimolecular amounts of exclusively the .alpha.-glycoside of the 7S : 9S diastereomer and the .beta.-glycoside of the 7R : 9R diastereomer. In this way the biologically important .alpha.-glycosides of the 7S : 9S diastereomer of the general formula I are easily prepared from a racemic anthracyclinone.

Why it's free to use
- Granted January 16, 1979. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 16, 1996.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
