Abstract From the Canadian patent

A mixture of particles of different magnetic susceptibilities suspended in a fluid is subjected to a magnetic field of an intensity such that, and for a time interval such that, some of the particles are causes by the resultant magnetic forces between the particles to come together to form free agglomerates within the volume of the fluid. The resultant fluid containing particles and agglomerates is then passed through a fluid-permeable mass of magnetisable material whilst the magnetisable material is subjected to a magnetic field to separate the agglomerates from the fluid. Apparatus for performing such a process comprises a first magnet for applying the magnetic field to cause …

Why it's free to use

  • Granted January 16, 1979. A Canadian patent filed before October 1, 1989 lasted 17 years from grant, so its term ended January 16, 1996.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
